Request to Enable 'Erase Job Scopes' on Twilio SendGrid Accounts

Objective

The Recipients' Data Erasure API allows Twilio SendGrid customers to delete their own customers' email-related personal data from the Twilio SendGrid Console. This feature helps customers comply with data privacy regulations.

Procedure

Customers may reach out to our support team to request enabling the scopes to Erase Recipients' Email Data on their SendGrid account. Please know that /v3/recipients/erasejob API endpoint is not enabled for all customers by default.


Please be aware:

For customers who signed up after July 25, 2023, this API is already enabled for customer accounts. 

For customers who signed up before July 25, 2023, this API is not enabled by default and further action must be taken by the technical support team to grant access.


First, begin by verifying if the scopes recipients.erasejob.read and recipients.erasejob. create scopes are available on the account. To do so, please navigate to the customer account on Kasi and select the dropdown arrow beside Edit User. Select View Scopes to view the entire list of scopes that the account currently has and verify if the two respective scopes are missing.

Follow these next steps:

  1. Document all existing scopes when viewing scopes as internal note onto the ticket you are working.
  2. On the customer's Kasi page, select Edit User then Reset Scopes.
  3. Verify that the two scopes have been added, then copy all scopes and document them as an internal note in the ticket.
  4. Please also add an Admin Note onto the customer's account with a link to the ticket, indicating that the scopes have been reset.

The customer will need to generate new API keys in order to leverage the updated scopes onto the account.
