How to Create a SendGrid Account

Objective

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to create a new SendGrid account. With the introduction of unified accounts, the process has been streamlined to ensure a seamless experience for new users. This guide will help you set up your account, verify it, and get started with sending emails.

Procedure 

1. Visit the SendGrid Signup Page: Go to https://sendgrid.com and click the "Start for Free" button at the top right corner of the page. 

2. Enter Your Details: Fill in your First Name, Last Name, Password, and Email Address. Also, check the boxes for the Captcha Challenge and the one to accept our Terms of Service. Then, click Continue. 

Note: Please use western alphabet characters and make sure that the Last Name has more than 2 characters. 

3. Verify your email address: A confirmation email with a code will be sent to the email address entered. Open that email, copy the code, paste it in the "Let’s get your email verified" dialog and click the "Verify" button. 

4. Verify your phone number for 2FA purposes: Select the Country code and enter your phone number without trailing zeros. You can choose to verify via SMS or Voice Call. Enter the verification code receiven on your phone and click the "Verify" button. 

5. Save the Recovery Code: Copy the Recovery code and save it somewhere safe, as it will be shown only once. It will help you access your account in the event you cannot use Two-Factor Authentication. Then, click Continue. 

6. Tell Us About Yourself: Fill in your Company Name, Company Website, select your Country code and enter the phone number linked to the account (it doesn't have to be the same used for 2FA purposes. Then, click the Next button. 

7. Authenticate a Domain (Optional): You can enter the details to authenticate your sender domain and create a link branding. If you don't want to do this, you can click the "Skip to dashboard" button. 

8. Once the account is created, to log in again to SendGrid, you can go to twilio.com, sign in with your email address and password, and then, use the Product Switcher to access the SendGrid UI again. 

 

Additional Information 

1. Please note that you can use your email address only once across Twilio products. If an account linked to the email address you entered is found, you will see the message: "A user has already been created for this email address. Please login with your Twilio credentials to proceed"

2. If you have a Google account, you can use the "Sign up with Google" button: Our system will retrieve all your information from your Google. If you get stuck in the "Tell Us About Yourself" dialog, because the last name field is empty and grayed out, please follow the steps at 'Last name' field grayed out upon Google SSO sign-up to address the situation. 

3. If you already have a Twilio account, but have never signed up for SendGrid, you can create a new SendGrid instance by using the Product Switcher. 

4. If you are unable to access your SendGrid account after signing up, please wait 30 minutes and check your email. Sometimes our Compliance and Onboarding team needs to review your account, and if that is the case, you will receive an email from them providing additional information or explaining why your account could not be activated. Please reply to that email, so your account can be reactivated.
